The district is looking to forego a $9.965 million referendum passed in April 2023 and pursue a different referendum in April 2024. Several areas of need that weren’t included in the previous referendum include:
- The JR/SR High School does not have a secure entrance. Creating one would improve safety and visibility.
- A lack of gym space is an ongoing issue. Building a community center would alleviate this concern and increase enrollment and community usage.
- There are limited childcare options in Cadott. Creating an early learning center/daycare would prepare children for a school setting and fulfill a community need. The center would also be self- funding, with no operational costs to the public.
If the April 2024 referendum passes, it will override the previous referendum. Residents will not be taxed for both amounts. If it does not pass, the district will use the $9.965 million as the 2023 referendum ballot wording dictates.
