What is ACP?
Academic and Career Planning, or ACP, is a student-driven, adult-supported process in which students create
and cultivate their own unique and information-based visions for post-secondary success, obtained through self exploration, career exploration, and the development of career management and planning skills.
What is Cadott’s ACP plan?
Here is the link for Cadott’s ACP plan. In year one the main concentration will be on self exploration for students through the career cruising software. Cadott will also continue to offer youth apprenticeship and work study options. Additionally, we provide time during the school day for work and school exploration for our seniors.
How was this plan developed?
This plan was developed by the CTE and Guidance departments. Inputs from higher education, local business, and administration were sought during the CTE advisory committee on soft skills that students were lacking and possible career opportunities.
How will the plan adapt and change?
The plan will change every year according to input from class advisors, businesses, and educational institutions.
What careers are in demand and available?
Careers in the chippewa valley that are hard to fill include: CNA, RN, Advanced Manufacturing, Physician, CDL Driver, Nurse Practitioner, Machinist, Software/ IT, Maintenance and Repair, and Engineer according to the 2016 Skills Gap Employer Survey Results.
What training is needed to fill the in-demand jobs?
The training need for in demand jobs varies greatly. According to the 2016 Chippewa Valley Skills Gap Survey 31 % of hard to fill positions need a H.S. Diploma, 12 % need a certification, 13% need an associates degree, 20 % need a bachelor's degree, 4% need a master’s degree, and 12% need a PhD.
How will staff be trained to implement ACP?
Staff members will be trained on ACP during inservice hours in December 2017. The staff will also receive updated training in the spring of the year according to grade level needs.
How will parents be involved in the Academic and Career Planning?
Parents will be involved in the students decision during the four year planning stage for courses. Parents will also be updated through their child’s high school career of opportunities in work study and youth apprenticeship.
