The FFA is an organization that is intra-curricular with the agricultural classes and a supervised agricultural experience (a job). The agricultural students have an opportunity to test their knowledge and build their leadership skills through the FFA.
There is so much more to FFA than just "farming" these days. Students can participate in many activities available through the state and national association. A few of the activities that we participate in are:
- Leadership conferences
- State and National FFA conventions
- Career development
- judging dairy cattle
- agribusiness
- floriculture
- speaking contests
All of these activities provide a basis for a future career in the industry of agriculture. The Cadott FFA also sponsors many local activities, such as football concessions, Christmas party, helping with the June Dairy breakfast and a staff appreciation cook-out.
Students achieve their degrees in FFA by being involved in the organization, actively taking classes, and working at their job or project. Their ultimate goal is to receive the American FFA Degree, which is the highest degree awarded in the organization. Through the student's experience in the FFA and agriculture classes, they have a chance at winning a state or national proficiency award in over 40 areas along. They also have an opportunity to receive scholarships for post-secondary schooling.
The opportunities are endless in the FFA from traveling around the state or outside the state to making new friends from other chapters, to building connections to business and industry. Here is the link to the national website: https://www.ffa.org/.
